Influence of environmental factors on bird diversity in and around Kahundanda Hillscape, Pokhara, Nepal

Birds are the indicators of ecosystem health. Several environment variables affect diversity, distribution and migration birds. Kahundanda Pokhara Valley is one important hillscapes having different habitat types such as human settlements, forest, farmland, wetland open areas. This study revealed factors affecting diversity birds Kahundanda. The direct observation by “point count” method was applied for bird survey. A total 49 points were fixed along nine transects in every 200–250m distance (elevation ranges from 700m to 1424m). In each point, we also recorded disturbance factors. 101 species belonging 18 orders 41 families reported area. highest forest (H' = 3.558) least area 2.365). Among them, 58.42% resident 41.58% migratory including four globally threatened (one critically endangered, two endangered near threatened) species.
